we are made up of our experiences. our mistakes. our heartbreaks. our baggage.
how does that make you feel? helpless? broken? how about proud?
in yoga, the teacher told us that when some people break something valuable, such as a pot that has been passed on for generations, they glue the pieces together with gold, and it makes the item more valuable. why is it so hard for us to see that we are the same?
i love listening to people when they are most vulnerable. but i recently had someone tell me that they didn’t want to tell me how they are feeling because they have too much baggage. Personally, i think that’s impossible. a person CANNOT have too much baggage. from what i’ve experienced, the more the better. baggage makes a person interesting. makes them more sensitive. more in touch with themselves. more knowledgeable. more relatable & willing to help.
so, maybe we should try to change the way we see our cracks and breaks, our issues and baggage, and think of it as a good thing; as lessons we have been fortunate enough to learn. as what makes us individuals. what makes us perfect in our own way.
